A registry match generally identifies the organization to which IEEE assigned an address block. It does not prove the manufacturer, owner, location, identity, or exact model of a device.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using MAC Address Identifier, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Service description
The service normalizes 48-bit MAC addresses, analyzes address flags, and searches locally stored IEEE assignment data. Results are provided for informational and diagnostic purposes only.
3. Acceptable use
You may use the service for lawful purposes. You must not attempt to disrupt or overload it, bypass access or security controls, introduce malicious code, automate abusive request volumes, or use results to unlawfully track, harass, discriminate against, or misrepresent another person or organization.
4. Accuracy and address randomization
Registry records can be incomplete, delayed, reassigned, or interpreted incorrectly. Locally administered and randomized addresses are not reliable evidence of a hardware manufacturer. You are responsible for verifying important conclusions using appropriate additional evidence.
5. Availability and changes
The service may be changed, suspended, rate-limited, or discontinued at any time. Registry updates depend on data made available by IEEE and on network availability.
6. Intellectual property and data sources
The application interface and original software are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. IEEE registry names and assignment data remain attributable to their respective source. IEEE and the IEEE logo are trademarks of IEEE; this service is not affiliated with or endorsed by IEEE.
7. Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the service. Liability that cannot legally be limited remains unaffected.
